U9 Netball beat Ardvreck

U9 Netball beat Ardvreck

Well played, girls!

The rain had stopped and we were due for a dry afternoon. With only 5 in the squad, it was going to be a tough match as every one was going to be playing all the time.

The first quarter started with Arabella as centre. Her speed helped to keep the ball moving up the court and allowed our shooters to have ample opportunities. Sophie scored three goals! The Ardvreck defence were slightly caught off guard, which helped to give us confidence, particularly as Ardvreck managed to score one goal.

With a switch in positions, Zanna was now in centre position and it was great to see our girls using their peripheral vision more. Our pace was fast and as a result, Arabella and Izzie both managed to score. Isabella and Sophie worked hard in defence and only conceded one goal. Half time score was Cargilfield 5 Ardvreck 2.

The third quarter showed us really in our stride. Our team was communicating well and whilst we still need to look at spreading out, we had a further three goals, thanks to Zanna (twice) and Isabella.

The final quarter saw Ardvreck have a strong attacking team (and a particularly good interceptor), which gave us a slight cause for worry when they scored two goals in quick succession. However, we held our own and with Arabella scoring a further goal, we can feel most proud of the final score: Cargilfield 9 Ardvreck 4.
