Since the start of the academic year, a team of six of our pupils have been working on an exciting model rocketry project as part of the UKROC Youth Rocketry Challenge. Competing against pupils up to 18 years old, they had to design and build a rocket which would carry an egg up to 850ft, fly for between 42 and 45 seconds, and come down on two separate parachutes.Today, the team travelled to Kinross to take part in the Scottish Regional round of the competition and, despite suffering a number of set-backs including motor and altimeter failures, did themselves proud. Congratulations to Dundee High School who are progressing to the National Finals.Congratulations to the team who have put in a huge amount of effort over the last six months, often spending evenings, weekends, and days during the holidays, in school to put everything together. We are hugely grateful to Petex who have helped to mentor the team, and provided substantial sponsorship. We look forward to working with them again in the future.
