A number of Form 8s took a trip to Scottish Parliament at Holyrood today. Once through security, we learnt about the decision-making process in Scotland. We learnt about the difference between reserved powers and devolved powers. Likewise, we found about the structure of parliament and the government. Liberal Democrat leader, Alex Cole Hamilton joined us and explained his role. We asked lots of questions before heading to the Debating Chamber. We saw the Presiding Officer take the lead and oversee the speakers asking and responding to questions. It was an informative and enjoyable trip.
