13 Gold, 11 Silver and 15 Bronze awards at this year’s Junior Maths Challenge.

Cargilfield has won an impressive 39 awards in the recent UK-wide Junior Maths Challenge for 11-14 year olds. Taken by Form 7 and 8 pupils in April, they achieved 39 certificates which was easily our best haul ever! (Thirteen gold, eleven silver and fifteen bronze.)

Daniel came top followed by Joseph and Natasha.

Daniel and Joseph scored well enough to be entered into the prestigious Junior Olympiad.

Other high scoring Gold winners – Xander, Amalia, Natasha, Ewan, Paddy, Aglaya and Shriyaa did well enough to qualify for the Junior Kangaroo bonus round. (Only the top 10,000 were invited to sit a follow-on competition.)

The Junior Maths Challenge was taken by approximately 200,000 pupils. It involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour and is aimed at pupils from S2 and below. Top performers go on to compete in either the Olympiad or Kangaroo competition. The Kangaroo is taken by several thousand pupils across the UK.
