Outstanding Inspection Report

Outstanding Inspection Report

Cargilfield named ‘sector leading’

The team of five inspectors from Education Scotland who visited Cargilfield in April 2023 consisted of a serving headteacher and a lay inspector from outside the education sector. During their five-day visit, they explored all aspects of the School’s provision and worked hard to gain a deep understanding of Cargilfield. They used stringent standards to evaluate the educational and care services provided, engaging with both staff, parents, governors and, perhaps most importantly, with our children to ensure an accurate and comprehensive assessment.

Cargilfield School received an outstanding report in all four inspection categories, with an excellent for raising attainment and achievement; and very good for leadership of change learning; for learning, teaching and assessment and for ensuring well-being, equality and inclusion.

As Headmaster, I am extremely proud of our achievements as it reflects the quality that I see on a day to day basis at Cargilfield: the high quality learning in which I see your children engaged; the passionate teaching and pastoral care that I see delivered by my colleagues in and out of classrooms; and the committed support to the whole community from governors and other members of staff.

We look forward to sharing the full inspection report on Tuesday, 19th September: the exact date on which Cargilfield first opened its doors 150 years ago!
