2^nd XV vs Dollar

Our 2^nd XV returned from the October break full of confidence after an excellent week of training to play Dollar on Wednesday afternoon. It was a frankly disgusting day for rugby, but the Cargilfield men rose to the challenge with a fantastic performance despite the conditions.

The first half started with a score off the kick off for Dollar and many could have seen this as the start of a long day at the office. Our 2^nd XV are made of sterner stuff these days however and after some positive words began to get into the game with Alex L levelling after a great snipe down the blindside. Shortly after, George got in on the act with a barnstorming run from the Dollar 22m line to score, after brilliant build up from Maxi, Leo, Leo and Sasha. Dollar levelled on the stroke of half time to take the score to 12-12.

Cargilfield again went further behind with some fantastic running from the Dollar captain, making the score 19-12. Thereafter, Cargilfield began to dominate on both sides of the ball with fantastic defence from Will and Theo creating a turnover for Matthew to cross after a mammoth run by our skipper Mack. Shortly after Oliver and Charles linked well in the centres to make great ground into the Dollar half and Edward dived over from close range. With a narrow lead established George then stepped up to haul himself over with Dollar boys hanging off him to make the score 29-21. Dollar scored late to make the score 29-26, leading to a tense finish, when Edward stepped up to make the match saving tackle and led the ball to be knocked on. A brilliant win and a perfect start to an exciting few weeks of rugby!
