U11A, B and C Hockey girls all successful!

Some super hockey in the sunshine!

U11A Hockey vs Ardvreck W 10-1

The A team scored lots of goals in what wasn’t the slickest team performance but we learned lots more about how to create more opportunities by moving off the ball and picking up space on the pitch. Most of the goals came from Miranda and Savannah who linked up well with one another but others contributed to the scoresheet once we broke the deadlock after Ardvreck’s goalkeeper made some great short-range saves.

Beatrice was once again a force to be reckoned with at the back with her no-nonsense defending and her distribution being particularly strong. Isla C grew into the game as the minutes ticked by and was unlucky not to score or even set a goal up when her fierce shot flew across the goal. Valentina’s strike from the edge of the circle was the pick of the goals and this was lovely to watch given we had been practising our shooting from distance in the buildup to the match.

Next steps, girls, are to spread out, make good leads with better communication and link up with some more accurate passing.

U11B Hockey vs Ardvreck W 5-1

The sun shone on the Under 11s this afternoon and they seemed to raise their game accordingly. Most impressive was the teamwork and a real desire to pass the ball and involve their team-mates in each attack. Athena and Nancy dominated the middle of the field and Thalia became increasingly influential as the game went on. Olivia was the top scorer but the whole team can be proud of the way that they showed more positional discipline and responded to coaching.

The Headmaster was enjoying himself so much that he failed to take any photos: he will aim to do better next time and offers his apologies.

U11C Hockey vs Ardvreck W 2-0

Well done to the Under 11C team who had to wait a little while for their match and then burst on to the pitch with real endeavor and determination. Well done to Clara and Lotte B for their positional discipline. Rosanna was tireless across the field but the decisive factor was probably Lotte C-B whose determination up front led to both goals (which she scored). Most improved throughout the game was Shriya whose tackling and distribution saw considerable progress. A super team performance on a lovely afternoon.
