2ndXV Rugby lost to Merchiston

2ndXV Rugby lost to Merchiston

A good encounter, just falling short

On a perfect late autumn afternoon our 2nd XV made the short trip over to Colinton to play our neighbours Merchiston. The Cramond men started slowly and after dropping off a number of tackles allowed Merchiston to seize the initiative. Thereafter, the Cramond men began to adjust their tackle height and aggression levels to begin making inroads into the Merchiston attack, this in turn led to opportunities taken ably by both Zain and Sylvan and a deserved 12-7 lead at the break.

The second half was again an even affair, with Merchiston again starting brightly and scoring early in the game. Two further scores followed for Merchiston, but this was by no means to lack of desire or courage, more a lack of cutting edge and being clinical in our attack. I was thrilled with the endeavour and conduct of the boys. Onwards and upwards with a big game against Sedbergh on Friday.

Final Score: Merchiston 31 – Cargilfield 17

POTM: Oli and Zain

Try Scorers: Sylvan, Zak, Zain

Cons: Archie x1
