U11B Hockey v Merchiston

Honour captained his U11 side to a sweet victory against a mixed Merchiston side. Starting out the match super strong, we immediately intercepted the ball after the starting whistle to score in what could be argued the season’s quickest goal to date. Keeping a one-forward-one-back formation, Max and Honour were a force to be reckoned with in defence. Due to this, Merchiston didn’t have much chance for shots in our D. Leo being in that middle position meant that any balls passed to him were then quickly redirected to the other side of the pitch and out of danger.

Swapping our keepers at half time (thank you to both Seb & Timothy for playing for both teams!), we stepped back up ready to dominate the second half. Blake used his speed to the team’s advantage to really overpower the opposition whilst they were starting to tire. Monty read the game well and knew exactly where to place the ball before he even had possession of it. Whilst scoring a few goals personally, Jack placed himself on the back post during the rest of our shots to make sure we were definitely getting it into the back of the net. Arlo & Jamie were fantastic runners, the former playing the ball around many a player and the latter rocketing shots on target to the goal. Oliver B finished off the fabulous team by both using the whole pitch, wings included, and being that out option when the ball was being too pressured.

The end result being double digits to a clean sheet really showed us how well this team can gel together, which is the first step to achieving success. Great job, team!
