U13A Netball beat Kilgraston

Well played, girls!

First home game of the season, the team Maddie, Tunrayo, Savanna, Jess, Scarlett, Izzy, Esme and Miranda.

The team were out early warming up getting game ready. After last week’s success the team were in high spirits and ready to take on Kilgraston. The team started off strong and hungry for the ball. The pace of the game was fast and the girls were moving around the court well albeit a few contacts from shoulder barges. The ball moved around the central court mostly under control giving the team time and dominating the possession of the ball. At the end of first quarter the team has scored 9 goals.

Kilgraston never gave up challenging our team to think fast and not to get complacent. After a week of focusing on shooting at games practice, Esme performed a text book move out from the post then driving back in to have the shot on the net scoring another goal. The team also put up an incredible force throughout the court play with their defending, getting back into position with the right distance, wide stance making it very difficult for Kilgraston.

GK, GD, WD were challenged in the final quarter when Kilgraston made a few changes in attack. The team work over the last few weeks in defense has become more consistent and the players are starting to read each other and their movement. To develop the team need to at times slow down their play so not to throw the ball away and ensure they are communicating at all times.

Scarlett was voted player of the match by Kilgraston after her great movement around court and dominance as centre. Well done!

1st Quarter 9-0, 2nd Quarter 10-1, 3rd Quarter 9-1, 4th Quarter 7-3 = 35-5 win.
