A terrific performance, boys!

U13B Hockey v Loretto

Won 7 - 2

The score line flatters what was an even and fast-paced game of hockey today. I was happy to see the game played in very good spirit and it was enjoyed by players, coaches and spectators. It was lovely to receive compliments from a group of Loretto parents who complimented our team for the way they conducted themselves as well as the way they played. And we did play well today. From the outset our wingers, Paddy and Daniel immediately sprinted wide when we won the ball, taking defenders with them and spreading the game wide, giving us so much more time on the ball. Freddie was awesome at left back and, with the space granted by his wingers, he could control the game, pick his pass, dribble into attacking areas – he was free to move. Kit was tireless and determined in midfield, he didn’t stop running all game and acted as the glue of the team, keeping attacks moving and always helping back in defence. Sylvan was dangerous on the ball and he linked really well with his wingers who were always running in on back post. Oliver moved with Tristan, taking turns at right back and midfield, and they both played well, perhaps having less impact on the game but working hard and timing their tackles well. Archie actually had quite a lot to do in this game as the Loretto boys were tenacious and skillful. He made a number of excellent, solid saves including a spectacular stick save bottom left. He also kicked really well, making a couple of brilliant counter-attack passes to the wingers. All in all, boys, a very impressive display – well done.
