U13 Hockey v Merchiston

Won 2-0

After Strathallen tournament being cancelled we were lucky enough to get a game against Merchiston. We had played them earlier in the season and it was one of our hardest games.

We have played all our games as 7 a side but this game was going to be a chance for us to play our first game at 11 a side.

This really is a totally different type of game and we had to let the ball do all the work.

We played 3 sets of 15 minutes.

The boys started off really slow and were put on the back foot with Merchiston pressing but our defense stood strong and didn’t allow them to score. After a difficult period, we managed top get a grip hold of the game and started becoming more threating and with some brilliant induvial skill from Charles B we managed to get a goal.

The second 15 we played so much better working more as a team and creating numerous chances but we were unable to extend our lead. We need to work on being more ruthless in front of goal.

The final third we let Merchiston back into the game and they tried to capitalize on a few silly mistakes by us but once again our defense stood strong with a couple good saves by Archie B. With Merchiston looking for a goal it made them vulnerable at the back and we had a good counter and managed to extend our lead and ended up winning 2-0.

A very good performance by the whole team. Well done!!!
