Well played, boys!

U11B Cricket v Clifton Hall

Won by 104 runs

The weather was surprisingly good as the Under-11B boys cricket team arrived at Clifton Hall for their first match of the season - the sun was shining and there was just the slightest of breezes. The match was a soft ball, pairs game, where each pair bats for a fixed four overs and 5 runs are subtracted for a wicket.

Our captain for the day, Honour, lost the toss but ended with his preferred choice of fielding first anyway. Stuart kicked off the bowling, doing so in style, knocking the bails off on his first delivery. The fielding was top-notch; the boys made few mistakes, and Leonardo took a fine catch at short mid-wicket. We will need to continue to work on the accuracy of the bowling, though, as the boys conceded 58 extras in twenty short overs. The hosts completed their innings with a total of 129.

Cargilfield’s representatives then took up the bat. Leonardo and Ethan got off to a great start, with some exciting shots and good running between the wickets. Honour and Salman took over and, once they had settled in, made a telling contribution too. Timothy and Stuart added a sizeable amount to the tally before Monty and Max brought the total into the region of 190 runs. Arthur and Max finished off the innings, both contributing handsomely to the score-line and Arthur hitting some fabulous sixes, which got the small crowd going, and ended the match with a total of 233 runs.

Well done to all the players for their warm and sporting spirit, and our grateful thanks to Clifton Hall for hosting us so well.
