U9 Cricket v Loretto

Won by 150 runs

Our first match of the season was a friendly game with our pals from Loretto, which was played in very good spirit. The Loretto captain won the toss and sent us in to bat first. We played some strong shots and took advantage of a short boundary to hit many boundaries including 11 sixes. The scores were:

Ensay and Charlie 22

Arran and George 42

Thandie and Archie 29

Daniel and Isabelle 44

Ezra and Archer 24

This gave the Cargilfield team a total of 167 runs. Pleasingly, we avoided giving away any wickets at all.

Our bowling and fielding were excellent with accurate, measured bowling restricting the Loretto runs. From the first bowl Ezra bowled a beauty which was blocked up into the air and his brother Ensay took a super catch. We continued to follow the game carefully, shown by two more super catches from Arran and Archie. Arran also got a run out by nailing the stumps with a great throw from 15 metres out.. The bowling scores were:

Our strong performance in the field restricted the Loretto innings to 17 runs. As I said to the children, we aren’t fussed with the score and by concentrating on our performance there are always areas to work on and to keep improving Well played today U9’s!
