A super game of cricket!

U10 Boys Cricket v Loretto

Won by 44 runs

The Under-10s had their first match of the term, although some boys had played in an Under-11 match earlier in the term. This was a soft-ball pairs match, which was kindly hosted by Loretto at Newfields.

Stuart, who was captain for the day took part in the toss, which resulted in Loretto taking up the bat and Cargilfield the ball. Each player had two overs to bowl, and as a unit the boys did a fine job of challenging the stumps of their opponents. There was one catch, taking by Monty, and a couple of run-outs - effected by some great fielding and accurate throwing. David’s bowling was particularly threatening but it was good to see the overall improvement in bowling across the team. The hosts ended their innings on 71 runs.

David and Miguel opened the batting, making a creditable 27 runs between them during their four-over allocation, for no wickets lost. Stuart and Freddie make a great team, interspersing some boundaries with well-taken singles to be the highest scoring pair with 34 runs. Monty and Michael then played an exciting innings, making 30 runs between them, which included three sixes from Monty. Oliver and Timothy worked hard for their runs and accumulated a commendable 24 runs for their partnership before William and Finlay dug in at the end and ensured the team got safely over the line to win by a margin of 44 runs.

Well done to all the boys for their enthusiasm and fearless play.
