A super team performance!

U11A vs Loretto

Won by 62 runs

On a bright and blustery day in East Lothian our U11A team took on Loretto School. The boys looked to build on the positive momentum from a comfortable victory in bitterly cold conditions at Merchiston the weekend before.

Caspian won the toss and elected to bat on a good wicket. James and Edward opened up and after a couple of plays and misses, the boys began to settle and rotated the strike superbly. Both boys struck powerful shots, but the slow outfield prevented them from really taking the game away from Loretto early on. They quickly gained a 50 partnership and eventually a wicket came when James departed for a well made 24. Edward followed shortly after 25*, which brought both Caspian and Torin to the crease who accelerated nicely. Torin played some powerful strokes before running himself out and Caspian batted superbly to make 23 and guide the side to an excellent 121-6 off 20 overs.

Oliver and Geordie opened the bowling and started well. Oliver bowling economically, with Geordie picking up the valuable wicket of their opener. Wickets were then shared equally amongst our bowlers with: Blake, Johnnie and Torin earning scalps. The bowler of the day however was Jamie. He bowled with real pace and accuracy to peg the Loretto innings back and prevent any form of Loretto counter attack. An excellent and mature team performance. Our fielding was superb and Wilf set the tone with the gloves and our ground fielding and catching was of excellent quality. Well done, men!
