U11A Rounders beat Belhaven

Well played, girls!

U11A Rounders v Belhaven

Won 10.5 - 7

With the sun shining, we took to batting first. We had a strong start with both Livia and Ceci scoring half rounders each and our first full rounder scored by Scarlett. Belhaven had strong fielders meaning a couple caught some of ours out. However, Emily M continued with a couple of half rounders, as did Lottie, Emily B, Scarlett and Livia. We made contact with virtually all the balls bowled so it was an impressive first innings of batting.

Our first effort of fielding was largely smooth, although we had, on occasion, a little bit of a gap between our 3rd and 4th post. However, we didn’t let that deter us and we managed to stop Belhaven from scoring too much. The first innings was Cargilfield 6.5 and Belhaven 5.

Our second innings of batting got off to a rocky start, with Livia being stumped out on our very first bat. This could have easily set us in to a spiral but I’m proud of the girls for keeping on going and ensuring that there wasn’t a feeling of giving up. We gained a few more half rounders from Rosanna, Emily B and Emily M, resulting in us scoring 4 rounders overall this time.

However, Cargilfield really stepped up in the fielding and I cannot fault them. They plugged the earlier gap between 3rd and 4th post, their communication was much better and they worked much more like the team I had seen in earlier games. Freya caught a super ball and Athena was, as always, ready and watching the ball as back-up to second. Livia had the freedom away from third post this time, so that she was free to move back and forth to catch accordingly, and Thalia made a super back-stop. Belhaven only managed two rounders as a result.

Belhaven was definitely a more evenly matched team for us and it was lovely to watch the Cargilfield team be put through their paces (and of course, come out on top!).
