Cargilfield v Belhaven (19 – 22)
The sun was shining on us this afternoon as we played our 3rd competitive match of the season against the visitors Belhaven. They won the toss and elected to field. Cargilfield put in a strong batting performance in the first innings against an accurate and powerful bowler. 2 full rounders for Isobel and Esme and rounders too for Georgia, Agus and Emilie. Our hitting is getting much stronger every match.
The opposition were also strong batters and scored a few rounders. We should have prevented a few of the half rounders but are learning week by week about the accuracy of our fielding and how teamwork is important. We did have some strong fielding from Serena and Anastasia and Georgia who were all solid on the bases. At half time we were trailing 8 ½ to 11.
Our second innings was equally as strong with full rounders again for Esme, Emilie, Agus and some half rounders for Imaan and Georgia. We managed to score 10 ½ in the second innings. Chasing down a lead from Belhaven, we played really well in the second half, getting 3 of players stumped out by Imaan and a great catch from Anastasia, but the Belhaven girls managed to edge it with 11 in their second innings.
We had a great afternoon and it is clear the team are making lots of progress and worked really well as a unit, supporting each other and playing in a great spirit. Well done!
