U11 Cricket beat Belhaven

An excellent team performance!

Our U11 squad was put to the test this week fulfilling two “A” Team fixtures against Merchiston and Belhaven. Edward lost the toss on a beautiful day in East Lothian and we were put into bat against a very formidable Belhaven bowling attack. James and Edward batted beautifully to get the team off to solid start before Edward departed for 15. Hamish, batting at three came out and immediately set about the Belhaven first change bowlers scoring a quick fire 24. When Hamish and James had departed in consecutive balls, it looked like a minor collapse could ensue. However, a fine 26 from Jamie W and able assistance from the lower order of Lochy, David and Blake took our total to 128 off 20 overs.

Our opening 6 to 7 overs in the field were some of the poorest we’ve had this year. A lack of concentration and desire showing as Belhaven raced to 88-1 off 11 overs. Somehow the boys turned it around in the field, typified by an outstanding stop from Honour to prevent a boundary. That started to build a little bit of pressure and by the time Jamie W and Edward had removed 4 of the Belhaven batsman for 4 runs the contest was back on. Max, Hamish and Jamie M bowled terrifically at the death to eventually bowl Belhaven out off the last ball of the match. A fine team performance, but the Player of the Match Award could only go one way and that was to Jamie with an outstanding 26 with the bat and 3-15 with the ball.
