The Ben Stokes 11 surged to victory on a beautiful but crisp Spring afternoon at Fettes.
Hugo and Charlie were fantastic with the bat and added 39 runs during their 4 overs at the crease. Emily, Imaan & Polly then added a further 20 as the team went on to score exactly 100 from their 20 overs.
Fettes batted next and started strongly but a fabulous catch by Imaan, off the bowling of Isobel stopped them in their tracks. Both George and Hector took excellent wickets before Charlie produced the moment of the match with a fantastic throw to run out one of the Fettes batsmen just as it looked as though they might get over the line for a win. Charlie then bowled the final over and restricted Fettes to just 6 runs which meant Cargilfield were the winners by 8. Well done to the whole team.

The U9 boys “Ollie Pope” team enjoyed a friendly game of cricket at Fettes. We batted first and I was very impressed with the power of some of our shots. We looked to hit big when suitable and ran some great singles in between the boundaries. The calling between the wickets was clearer and is improving. In total, we scored a dominant 169 runs:

Our bowling was tested by a long wicket and a stiff breeze, so I was very pleased with our overall accuracy and power. We took a number of great wickets and always looked to attack in the field, which was good. A couple of small technical things to work on such as where to stand when backing up a throw, but overall, a super bowling and fielding display. Issy and Daniel both took great catches and there were a couple of good run outs from Tommy and Nick. Well played!
