U9B Mixed Cricket beat Fettes

Lots of fun in the sunshine!

It was a beautiful day at Fettes and the U9B (Team Root) were raring to go, Captained for the day by Ensay.

Cargilfield batted first with Minty and Teddy leading the charge with a great 25 from 4 overs. Anastasia and Magnus continued with more excellent batting pushing the scoreboard up into the 40’s. Georgia and Archer were the 3rd partnership showing great running between the wickets as well as some good hitting. Ezra and Eleora having seen how successful Georgia and Archers running was continued with a similar tactic. They were as quick as Flash between the stumps running great singles putting the Fettes fielders under a lot of pressure. Our final pairing was Serena and Ensay. This was the partnership of the day. They put Fettes bowlers and fielders under constant pressure for their 4 overs running good singles and hitting some fantastic boundaries bringing our total to over 130 in 20 overs.

After a quick turn around our bowlers opened up. We reversed the batting order so Ensay and Serena started our attack. They both bowled very nicely keeping Fettes to only a few runs. Ezra and Eleora continued with more accurate bowling, then Georgia and Archer with Anastasia and Magnus, who’s first over was excellent taking a well deserved wicket. Minty and Teddy came on before we started the bowling rota again. Teddy’s bowling was top draw; quick, accurate and very unfortunate not to take a wicket. We had kept Fettes to under 40 runs, including extras after 10 overs. It was going to be a tough afternoon for Fettes. Our bowling continued to be of a high standard, with the highlight from Serena’s over. She had bowled well when the Fettes player went for a big shot only for Ensay to make a difficult catch look easy. There was strong bowling from Magnus, Archer and especially Teddy, who was the standout bowler of the day.

Cargilfield won convincingly. Fettes were gracious hosts providing a lovely match tea and plenty of laughs and giggles from the teams when they sat with one another.

Player of the match – Ensay.
