U11 A Girls’ Cricket vs Craigclowan

Cargilfield 60 – Craigclowan 31

Despite a minor downpour this morning, the sun shone on our fixture this afternoon and the cricket was a of a standard to match this.

Craigclowan won the toss and elected to field first with the hope of being able to chase down Cargilfield’s total.

Thalia and Bea started well, running well between the wickets and Thalia’s powerful hitting helped the pair to post 22 runs in their two overs. This number was only surpassed by Olivia and Athena who scored 31 runs between them. The scores for both pairs were aided by not losing any wickets. Indeed, Olivia and Athena were really aggressive in their running between the wickets and applied pressure to the Craigclowan fielders. Some big hitting from both Emilys helped take our total to 60 runs after ten overs.

While this looked a good total, Craigclowan batted steadily and reached 37 runs off six overs and the game was in the balance. Thalia’s bowling had helped to keep us in the match. Then the final four overs saw Cargilfield take charge. Some quick-witted fielding from Emily B and an outstanding over from Olivia who took three wickets for just two runs (thanks to catches from Athena and Thalia) restricted Craigclowan to just 31 runs and a more comfortable victory than we’d thought likely.

While Athena and Olivia were a force to be reckoned with as a pair throughout, I would name Thalia as the Player of the Match for contributing to the victory with bat, ball and in the field.
