U11A Hockey beat Fettes

A super performance!

Today's fixture against Fettes at Cargilfield was an exciting one for the girls' team. They were prepared and eager to try short corners for the first time. The team's main focus was to stay in their positions, pushing the ball wide, and communication. The game seemed to start slowly, with Cargilfield having the majority of possession. Despite the strong Fettes goalie deflecting several attempts on goal, the team managed to break through with their first goal. Esme's goal, which resulted from a lovely pass from the top of the circle and a deflection off her stick. Esme was on fire, as she followed up with another goal at the goal post. Livia not only performed her captaincy duties admirably off the pitch but also had an outstanding performance on the field by scoring 5 goals.

During the second half of the match, Fettes became more aggressive and competitive. Their increased intensity in tackling and hunger for the ball posed a significant challenge for the team. Zinnia and Isla contributed to the team's attack with Zinnia scoring a great goal.

Alice, Clara, Glory and Eleora formed a strong defensive unit during the game. Their ability to work cohesively and cover for each other is a crucial aspect of a solid defense in field hockey. Sweeping the ball wide and preventing it from entering the circle on multiple occasions. Minty was a force in goal, saving numerous attempts. Livia was given MVP voted for by the Fettes team.
