U11B Hockey v Fettes

Won 4 – 1

A bright and blowy afternoon on the Gillespie Astroturf saw us host Fettes for their first match of the new season.

Cargilfield started strongly with Florence captaining the team and looking athletic in midfield. She linked well with Lily for Lily to open the scoring.

Things were a little frenetic to start but soon the team started to organise themselves positionally with Lily, Helena and Agustina making a strong back line and maintaining our width across the pitch.

Cargilfield continued to dominate possession – although it was noticeable that the Fettes girls grew in confidence as the match went on. Cargilfield pulled ahead to lead by three goals to nil at half-time. Florence and Emilie got themselves on the scoresheet.

As Fettes created more space and caught us pushing up too far, Helena and Thandie were strong in defence although Fettes were able to break their duck after half-time.

Lily was starting to enjoy more space down the right wing with Isabelle and Anastasia both releasing her with well timed passes. Lily scored her second goal to bring the final score to 4-1 to Cargilfield.

Well done to both team for some enjoyable hockey and the progress they made this afternoon.
