U9 Hockey lost to Belhaven

U9 Hockey lost to Belhaven

Two close games!

U9 Hockey v Belhaven

Lions lost 1:2

Tigers lost 2:3

Well the rain did not dampen the spirits of the Cargilfield and Belhaven U9 girls, and two very feisty and close matches were played on the Harper Gow astro today. The Lions played first and Captain Clara took the centre pass. I was very pleased with her fast dribbling up the field and determination to get into the D. Unfortunately, Belhaven managed to get the ball away from the D and back up the field. We needed to pick up our speed to support Clara and give her the options to pass. Izzie and Isla worked their socks off but it did not seem to come together to allow us to finish. Annie was super quick to take hit outs to try to give us advantage and Sophie was much more assertive than last week. Belhaven put pressure on our goal and sadly an own goal was scored. In the second half Clara scored a fine goal but Belhaven answered with one of their own, leaving the final score as Belhaven 2: Cargilfield 1

The Tigers had an equally exciting game; indeed, we were all holding our breath for the last 2 minutes with the score at 2 all. Our centre Kirsty covered an enormous amount of the pitch, even coming back to defend when necessary. Her splendid efforts were rewarded with a goal. Arabella was very active in attack and also scored a fine goal We had several further shots on goal but need to work on our accuracy. Lotte played well in mid field and had a shot on goal as well. Zanna was very courageous in defence coming right forward and Isabella did likewise. At one point the whole team was forward but goals eluded us! Final score Belhaven 3 Cargilfield 2.

Well done, girls. You are making good progress and your skills are developing well.
