U11 Hockey v Belhaven

It was a very back and forth game for Miss J’s U11 team today playing a strong Belhaven side. Whilst the opposition did have no keeper, this meant there was an extra outfielder to contend against.

Whilst we were still finding our feet, the Belhaven team took advantage of this and managed to nab the first goal of the match. This was then countered by Emilie M who defied the law of physics to score a goal despite not even facing the goal! One of our attacking focuses were to have someone within 5 metres of a opposition free hit, which Emilie then did perfectly, intercepted a ball and drive to score a brilliant goal.

After half time, Lily and Georgia showed perfect teamwork by working together in a 2v1 to smash the ball against the backboard. A drop in concentration in the final quarter saw Belhaven sneak through the defence and score a powerful shot. A big shoutout however does have to go to Minty for the fantastic saves during the whole game (and at one point, making FIVE saves in a row!) Agustina had non-stop determination when getting back possession of any and all balls that were lost which really had a positive impact on the game.

Looking onto next week, we will focus on looking around the whole pitch for the pass as well as using the width and sides to its full potential. Good job, team!
