A terrific game of rugby!

2nd XV vs Strathallan 1st XV

Lost 29-24

Our 2nd XV looked to continue the positive momentum built from a fantastic performance at Belhaven last week when they came up a formidable Strathallan 1st XV in miserable conditions. The first 10 mins of the match was played at a frantic pace, with both sides making big tackles and showing great continuity in there play. Strathallan broke the deadlock to score a well worked try off a scum move. Thereafter, Cargilfield began to hit the stride with a series of powerful surges and silky touches from Leo, Sasha, Oliver and Mack: this allowed Tristan to sneak in for the sides first score which Edward converted. Cargilfield continued to defend valiantly and Alex L was proving a pest at the breakdown which created a turnover that allowed George to gallop free for his first try of the season. Strathallan scored two quick tries at the end of the half to lead 19-14.

The second half began at the same intensity, with both sides defending admirably. Theo, William and James all contributed to a great defensive effort but eventually the dam burst and Strathallan skated through for two tries. Cargilfield still had time to get back into the game scoring two well worked tries through fabulous interplay from Edward, Maxi and Sasha for Tristan to complete his hattrick. A narrow loss against a bonafide 1st XV was a fantastic effort. George was our Player of the Match – well done!
