U11A Hockey drew with St Mary's

No goals but plenty of excitement!

U11A Hockey v St Mary’s

The game was a well-fought and evenly matched contest with both teams displaying good performance on the field. They were focused on driving forward towards the shooting circle and attempting to move into a space. Despite having only seven players, the girls took the opportunity to get accustomed to their positions and roles on the field. Zinnia and Alice's efforts in driving the ball forward were commendable, even though St. Mary's defense put up a strong challenge with their block tackles. Clara's contribution in progressing up the pitch and fast hit outs leading to shots in the shooting circle. While they couldn't find the goals on this occasion, it's clear that the team was making strides in offensive play.

With a couple of tournaments on the horizon both teams had the opportunity to work on their short corner execution. We started with and attacking short corner which still needs practice but the girls performed their defending corners very well clearing every ball that came their way. Thandie and Eleora in defence were a fantastic force with very little getting past them. Eleora was voted player of the match by St Mary’s for her incredible tackling skills. The 0-0 final score seems to reflect a fair outcome given the balanced nature of the game. It's clear that both teams put in a lot of effort and showcased their skills. Identifying areas for development, such as getting in front of players and marking in defense, is an important step in continuous improvement. Overall, it sounds like a well-played and competitive match, and congratulations to the girls on their efforts!
