U11B Hockey v Ardvreck

Won 4 – 1

After the rain and cold of previous weeks, it was a pleasure to take to the field in the sunshine this week. A new-look Under 11B team took a little while to settle but soon began to dictate the pattern of play.

Our initial error was to follow the ball and so compress the space but in the second and third quarters, Cargilfield discovered more positional discipline with Georgia and Lily on the left and right flanks offering wide options for passes and allowing for more space in the middle of the field.

With the score at 0-0 after the first quarter, Cargilfield started to push ahead. Agus and Emilie linked well up front, especially for our second goal and Isabelle held the centre of the pitch and distributed effectively.

Holding a 4-0 lead going into the last quarter, Ardvreck came back and Helena and Alexandra had to work harder in defence. Minty made a number of good saves until Ardvreck finally broke our resistance with the last shot of the game.

Agus was named player of the match by Ardvreck for her skilful running and, in particular, a wonderful shot to score the fourth goal.
