U11C Hockey v Ardvreck

It was a good day to be being hockey, that’s for sure! A well-fought victory against Arvreck, including goals, teamwork and sportsmanship galore. We had goals in the first half from Polly, Jed and Imaan, as well as some lovely driving up the wing from Charlotte. “It’s been an awfully exciting first quarter” was the quote of the day from Polly during our mid-match team talk. After a quick half-time break (mainly to pet some four-legged supporters), we were right back in it. Isobel was a non-stop runner in this game, even finding out what the term ‘puffed out’ actually meant (a very confusing mid-team talk conversation indeed!) Having Katherine as a strong wall in defence really helped our team out in our drive to attack. Anastasia was determined to never give up and was constantly there to back up the player with the ball whenever needed.

Showing true Cargilfield spirit, a few of the girls offered to play in the final space for the Ardvreck team each quarter (thank you to Anastasia, Charlotte, Jed & Isobel). Well done to Polly for being coach’s player of the match, and to Charlotte & Jed for being the Ardvreck team’s players of the match. Special shoutout to Imaan who played her final ever match in the Cargilfield strip! We can’t wait to see you on the pitch again, next time playing against you instead of with. Some great hockey on display and the team were very tired after it, a sign that they played hard and well! Great work girls!
