U13B Hockey v Ardvreck

After a long drive to Ardvreck, the U13s were eager to win their last match before the half-term holidays.

We managed to pull ahead in the first half, with our two goals resulting from brilliant passes across the D, where Emily waited on the back post to deflect the ball in. Shriyaa read the game well and made fantastic leads into the shooting D, with a few of her shots narrowly missing the goals.

Lottie made some crucial interceptions because she always made sure to stand in front of the person taking the hit-out. Excellent drives down the left wing were seen by Freya, and Emilia created plenty of passing options by running into open spaces. Our captain, Thalia, made strong tackles and she wasn’t afraid to drive with the ball when no one was in front of her.

At the back, Aglaya was calm under the Ardvreck pressure and cleared the ball wide. Our other defender, Gabriella, strongly swept the ball across more than half the pitch on many occasions. Clear communication could be heard from Ceci in goals, who was telling her defenders where they needed to be.

Ardvreck came back with a burst of energy in the second half of the game, which caught us off guard. With a drop in our level of concentration, our opposition managed to even the score towards the final whistle. Today’s draw reflects the closely contended and well-fought game we played.

Over the past few matches we’ve really grown as a unit. Now that we know how to play as a team, we’re super excited to make the rest of the season memorable!
