U9 Hockey v Ardvreck Triangular Tournament

Well what a difference a week makes! How lovely to play in dry sunny weather! The Sharks and the Dolphins took on Ardvreck this week. Each of our teams played and we lost one and drew one in two very exciting games.

The Sharks played first and Arabella took the centre pass. We were a little overwhelmed at the fine skills shown by the Ardvreck girls but we did not give up. They moved the ball very quickly down the pitch and immediately put pressure on the goal. Zanna and Izzie worked so hard but unfortunately three goals were conceded. The second half was much closer, however. We did have some scoring opportunities but Ardvreck defence was very good indeed.

The Dolphins had a much closer game and all the spectators watched with bated breath. Ardvreck scored first but Isabella scored very quickly afterwards and Lotte so nearly scored at the end. Isla was very good at winning the ball back from Ardvreck. Sophie played very well in defence, hitting the ball with much more confidence and moving in to take the tackle. Both defenders were very quick to take the hit outs.

Well done, girls. You were good hosts to the Ardvreck girls and we enjoyed playing hockey together.

Targets for training this week include finishing our attack with stronger goals and continuing to space out rather than trying to play through players, using our skills and the sweep pass to go around them.
