U13B Hockey v Dollar

Today’s miserable conditions didn’t stop the U13Bs from playing their socks off in their first game of the half-term. During the first 20 minutes, Dollar and Cargilfield maintained equal possession of the ball, making it a closely contested half. Gabriella made really strong passes up the pitch to Emilia, who was waiting in perfect spaces. Whenever the opposition entered our D, Ceci was ready to save all their shots on goal. Our defenders, Shriyaa and Aglaya, were challenged with Dollar’s fast attackers, but they managed to make strong tackles in the D and clear the ball.

With a score of 0-0 at half-time, both sides implemented new tactics to try and score some goals. Our main focus was to position ourselves in front of the opposition when waiting to receive a ball. Despite Cargilfield making some extremely hard passes to one another, Dollar managed to flood the D with players and score two goals shortly after each other. However, a hard pass across the opposition’s D lead to a sneaky deflection from Thalia, which gave us our first goal.

As the rain was beginning to fall and the end of the match was nearing, it seemed as if Dollar would take the victory. But with just two minutes left to go, Emily scored with a hard hit from the top of the D, equalising the score, and making the match even more exciting.

The girls fought right until the very last second and worked together to get the ball to Lottie, who scored the winning goal in the last three seconds of the game!

Well done, U13Bs! You should be proud of your efforts and amazing teamwork that you displayed today.
