U11B Hockey lost to Craigclowan

A close game!

U11B Hockey

v Craigclowan

Things were looking our way for quite some time in the U11s playing away against Craigclowan. After some encouragement to look up and around the whole pitch when on the ball, the team played some lovely hockey, and even scored a lovely team goal. This came all the way from the Cargilfield defending side with a strong clearance from the D, up to the wing where Emilie was in the perfect position to receive the ball and drive. Her shot from the outside of the D went straight to Esme who made a lovely deflection into the goal. We had another great opportunity in the second quarter, but unfortunately the whistle was blown before the ball went into the goal.

From a defensive point of view, we had a strong wall in Polly, Helena, Anastasia and Jed (along with Isobel in goals!) who all kept a clean sheet for a third of the game. Charlotte was a key player on the right wing of the pitch to drive up our strong side and power through.

An unfortunate last minute goal from Craigclowan meant that the opposition came away with the close win. There were some spells of terrific build-up play out there today and with stronger finishing and getting stuck in to get the rebounds, it might have been a different result. However, as long as the team plays well, the score doesn’t matter. Congrats to Lily for being the Craigclowan’s player of the match. Well done, team!
