U11B Rugby beat Loretto

A super team effort!

U11B Rugby v Loretto

Won 12 - 3

The Under-11B rugby team travelled across to Musselburgh for a match against their regular rivals, Loretto. Unusually, kickoffs were included in this match, which provided an additional interesting aspect to the contest.

Cargilfield received the first kick confidently and initiated a useful attack, which resulted in a try almost immediately. A few more tries followed before the hosts stepped up their resistance and they soon managed to convert a turnover from a knock-on into a try of their own.

A Cargilfield continued to run hard and pass well - the support play was of a high standard and the tries were scored by a wide selection of players. A few missed kick-offs provided Loretto with some opportunities, of which they managed to turn a couple into tries but, by and large, the Cargilfield boys managed to keep up their defensive efforts, ably led by Blake, who put in some telling tackles throughout. All of the boys put in a good shift though, with Archie effecting 3 turnovers and Bertie and Seb energetically harrying the ball carriers. Daniel and Salman's surging runs kept the opposition back on their heels and Stuart's handling and positioning on the field were excellent. Honour produced one of the best attacking runs of the second half which included a wonderful sidestep.

The final score was heavily in Cargilfield's favour but well done to the home team for their determined efforts and our gratitude for hosting us so graciously. Congratulation to our boys for a sound performance today.
