U13B Netball drew with St Mary's

What a finish!

Drew 12 - 12

Captain: Lottie

In the season's inaugural netball match at home, our team faced St. Mary's in challenging cold but dry conditions. The game ended in a 12-12 draw, showcasing a closely contested battle.

The initial quarter was slow, marked by mistakes on both sides, including contacts and distance errors. St. Mary's proved to be a formidable opponent, keeping our girls on their toes. As the game progressed, each quarter saw an increase in pace and a reduction in mistakes, demonstrating the growing competitiveness of both teams. A good illustration for this, are the 12 goals scored during the last quarter across both teams!

Despite occasional frustration, the team maintained a positive and cheery attitude, displaying excellent sportsmanship. Managing three substitutes posed challenges, limiting some players from their preferred positions or full game participation. However, the adaptability added a strategic element to the match.

Lottie was named Player of the Match for the Cargilfield team after scoring 10 goals. We had great performances as WD from Glory as well as excellent passing from our Centers Emily and Praise. In WA, Thalia and Shriyaa did a good job reading the game and passing the ball forward. In the goals we had Valentina, Aglaya and Emilia working hard on defense, while we had on the other side, in turns Lottie, Gabriella and Thalia for scoring.

The game concluded with a well-deserved draw, highlighting the closely matched skill levels. Congratulations to the girls on a commendable first match. May this spirited performance set the tone for a promising netball season ahead.
