Lost 9-29

Today was a game that we need to learn from. We started well with Miranda and Scarlett as shooters supported by Emilia DH on the wing. Although we had the first centre pass Fettes soon took a commanding lead. They were a very fit and agile team and although we tried hard to mark them we found it hard to keep up. We tried to use a few of the set plays we had been working on but we were perhaps a little shaken up by the force of the opposition and didn’t use these to our advantage, All too often we looked to release the ball too quickly and sent it straight to the opposition.

By the second quarter we were a little more into our stride but Fettes were relentless. We were not great at holding our space and we also needed to work on our timing off the ball. At the half way point Fettes were 14 goals ahead.

At half time we had a chance to catch our breath we juggled the teams around a bit and Athena bravely stepped up to play Centre to give Emily B a break. Although Athena was fairly new to this she impressed with her commitment and her marking of the opposing Centre. Ceci and Freya were also working very well in defence together and managed a few interceptions. Isla G found marking in the D a bit tricky but tried hard to intercept and got a few rebounds.

The last quarter was our best although tiredness was beginning to affect the accuracy of our passing. However, we managed a final goal and brought our total to 9.
