U10 Hockey beat Merchiston

U10 Hockey beat Merchiston

A goal fest!

Won 10 - 0

The Under-10 boys took on Merchiston away from home this week. The storms had passed by a cold steady breeze remained for the whole afternoon, so the boys were chomping at the bit to run around.

One aspect of the game we had been focusing on in our training this week had been off-the-ball movement, and it was good to see the boys trying to put this into practice - Harry and Hugo really stood out in having taken on board this skill, which really boosted our momentum and attacking prowess; of course, it still took great passes from Daniel, Tommy and Archie in the midfield for this play to work. The team's passing was great for large stints of the match and the final goal, which was the result of just four crisp passes, was excellent: from our 'D' into the midfield - out to right wing, back to the centre and into the left of the opposition D for the left wing to score.

Well done to all the boys for a marvellous effort in that they had to make a conscious effort to play 'good' hockey in a match where switching off and lowering their standards would have been easy.

Our thanks to Merchiston for hosting us.
