Playing without our U13 girls was new for us but gave us a chance to try new things. Lottie CB moved up to GS to partner Scarlett at GA. Lottie played extremely well today against a very competitive GK and held her own scoring a lot of goals in far from ideal conditions. Both our shooters were supported by Emily B at Centre and Olivia M at WA both of who were extremely agile today with excellent court coverage.

I was impressed with the positive attitude of our girls who worked very well as a team against a significantly bigger and quite physical opposition. Athena was fearless and drove forward for every ball. She just refused to give up and contested every pass and sprinted after every deflection. She was key to a lot of the turnovers that we made.

Our focus on set plays from the centre pass served us well today. Olivia M directed these, reading the game and anticipating the opposition moves very well. Freya was excellent at WD and against squared up to some formidable opposition but kept her head and looked for space to make the pass.

In the circle, both Athena and Ceci were on top form and worked very well together. Ceci was voted the players’ player by the other tea at the end of the match.

This was an absolute pleasure to watch. Well done girls!
