U11A Hockey beat Craigclowan

Well played, boys!

In wet and breezy conditions in Perth, this was an entertaining and competitive game. Both teams played nice passing hockey and there was plenty of goal mouth action.

It was quite balanced in the opening moments as we patiently passed the ball around at the back, looking for an opportunity to unlock the home team’s defence. Monty was lively on the right hand side and scored a hat trick in the first half with some typical poacher goals; Hamish gave us another through a well-taken reverse shot and Arlo, who had been provided with a few opportunities from Hamish when he had moved to right wing, eventually made one count with a powerful strike that the Craigclowan keeper, could not quite keep out.

Rather than playing penalty corners, players could take a free hit at the top of the D: this suited the impressive and energetic Craigclowan captain who had been working very hard throughout the game, as his hard and accurate hits allowed him to get his own hat trick. It wasn’t their only threat as they created many chances but Timothy in goal was up to the task for those close range shots when Craigclowan breached our D.

We had a lot of chances but were slightly casual at times with our finishing and lacked that clinical touch; however, the conditions were tough and it was still pleasing to score 6 team goals.

Well done boys!
