U11B Hockey lost to Craigclowan

A super game in the wind and rain!

U11B Hockey v Craigclowan

Lost 1 - 3

One of our U11B teams travelled to Perth on Wednesday to play against the Craigclowan B team. The warm up clearly hadn't been very effective after the long bus drive because the boys struggled to get going in the first quarter of the match, conceding a brace of goals whilst offering little resistance. In the second quarter, they started to pass the ball more, move off the ball more energetically, and clearly had more intent about their game and they were therefore able to keep possession for longer spells and create some scoring opportunities - this finally allowed the ball to find the backboard to reduce the hosts' lead to 1-2.

Unfortunately, the boys lost their width again in the third quarter, which made for a scrappy game down the middle of the pitch; however, they still managed to threaten the opposition goal but were unable to add to the score line, instead the opposition took their chance to increase their lead to 3-1. The boys continued to fight into the final quarter and Cargilfield had the best of the territory for the last 10 minutes. Much of the time was spent in and around the opposition 'D' and there were chances galore to score but the boys were unable to capitalise on their possession and were left to rue the missed opportunities as the final whistle went. Nevertheless, the boys played well for the majority of the match and they should be proud of the determination and grit that they showed.

Our thanks to Craigclowan for hosting us so well and also our congratulations for a deserved win.
