U13B Hockey v Ardvreck and Merchiston

We played Ardvreck first in a 2 ten-minute halves format and managed to dominate play from the outset. We threatened their goal on every occasion we got the ball with Jamie, Alexander and Oliver all rushing into the D to put pressure on the keeper. We scored some great goals from passing the ball across the keeper and tapping in back post. Oliver set up a lot this way with some scorching runs down the right wing. He was fed regular ball by Archie at the back who dominated play and put through some clever passes. Edward was solid in defence, which meant Mack had little to do all game. Charles played a strong game in mid-field with James to support him, they both led attacks and doubled back to help defend too. Monty, Arthur and Wilfred played in various positions around the park and played well.

We went straight into playing Merchiston and quickly formed a 2-0 lead with some great passing hockey. We then mixed the positions around to give everyone a chance of playing all over the pitch, which was interesting until Merchiston scored two break away goals. Luckily, we still had time to revert back to our normal structure and scored three quick goals. Overall, a super day of hockey in glorious sunshine on a new pitch in the lower regions of Crieff.
