Scottish IAPS Representative Netball Tournament

Game 1- Won 23-5 against the Caledonians

We set off to Fettes in high spirits. Our joint training session had gone very well and the girls had enjoyed themselves as well as teaching each other a few of their match plays and learning about each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Or first game was against the Thistles. We started strongly with all three of our girls on the court. Ceci at GK, Miranda shooting and Emilia on the wing. We took a commanding early lead and ended the first quarter 8-2 up. We continued this throughout the first half with some strong passing. We were in danger of running too fast and passing too quickly without considering all the options and at half time our chat was all about using channels and square passes so that the game did not run away with us.

With this advice in mind, our strongest quarter came next and Miranda and the Fettes shooters took the score to 16-5. In the final quarter we continued to pull ahead and ended with a convincing win.

Games 2 Won 22- 7 against the Thistles.

Our second game came straight after our first. We anticipated that this would be more challenging because we had just played a full match. We were also the smallest squad with only 9 players. However, all the girls were pretty fit and keen to give it their best shot.

Again. we started with a commanding first quarter. Our shooters were doing well but crucially our defence was working hard to keep their shooters away form their goal. We were slightly less effective in the mid court and tended to follow the ball rather than dictate the play and move away and then in to take a pass,

We refocused at half time and again talked about being patient and waiting for an opportunity to feed into the circle rather than just throwing the ball in and hoping for the best.
