U11A Netball lost to Belhaven

What a nail biter!

13-14 Loss

A home game where the sun was shining was the setting for our second last game of the season. Belhaven have been wonderful competition this season with some very competitive and strong matches, including meeting them in the semi-final last Wednesday at the Ardvreck Tournament where we beat them in a golden goal. Both teams had seven players and the Cargilfield girls were all in their regular positions where they knew what their roles and responsibilities were.

The games started off with Eleora (Captain) winning the center pass in a game of rock, paper, scissors. Florence in C was ready for the game to start, she stepping in and off they went! The ball going back and forth from one net to the other each time scoring a goal on the school’s center pass. The girls were bunching and needed to work on their spacings especially in the central court. Belhaven were a lot taller and the girls really needed to dodge around them and move into a space. As the game went on the passes started to become more consistent and the team started to gel like they usually do. The sportsmanship on the court was lovely to see between the two teams, lots of chatting with their opposite player. Alice and Eleora have created a strong partnership in the shooting circle over the season and were really looking for each other today. Isla, Florence and Clara ran their sock off in the central court to move the ball up the the court for shooting opportunities. Zinnia and Livia have become intercepting masters in defense. A wonderful game that could have gone either way! Well done to Alice that was voted player of the match by Belhaven.

Last game of the season next week against Strathallan!
