U9 Netball beat Belhaven

U9 Netball beat Belhaven

A terrific team performance!

Won 11-3

An early arrival from Belhaven meant that we had time to do a couple of mixed drills to get to know the team better and forge good friendships. We began with a game of “Time Bomb” to practice quick passing and throwing under pressure. We then had a shooting game of “Winner Stays On”, which everyone enjoyed!

We had a fantastic start to the match, with Zanna taking first centre pass. We dominated the first quarter, scoring 6 goals in total (Arabella scored 5 and Isabella 1). Our quick passing was key and it is great to see us putting into practice all the key ideas from training. Belhaven scored two but some super defending from Izzie and Kirsty made sure it wasn’t more.

The second quarter saw Sophie as centre and Clara and Zanna become shooters. Zanna increased our lead with 3 more goals, with Isabella and Arabella being great in defence (Belhaven scored one this quarter).

After half time, we switched ends and Izzie was now our centre. Her speed picked up within this quarter alone and as a result, we had numerous attempts at scoring. Clara worked hard to intercept but overall, play from both teams seemed to be a bit scrappier. There was just a bit too much inaccurate passing and unfortunately, no goals from either team was scored in these ten minutes.

Our final quarter was back to being on form, with Arabella scoring another two goals. Kirsty was fantastic at intercepting and Izzie continued her quick thinking. Isabella helped to drive the ball up the court with Sophie blocking those opponent balls.

Well done, Team Cargilfield and thank you to Lotte and Isla for their help with keeping score 😊
