The Under 11C Cricket team faced Fettes in a pairs Kwik cricket match on Wednesday, every player receiving two overs to bowl, two overs keeping the wicket and each pair sharing four overs of batting.
Fettes were put in to bat first and the Cargilfield boys worked hard to restrict their scoring with some energetic fielding and reasonably accurate bowling. William and Oscar were the pick of the bowlers on the day, both having consistent deliveries throughout their respective spells. Fettes posted a total of 106 at the end of their innings.
After tea, the Cargilfield boys set out to chase down the target - each pair requiring an average of just over twenty to reach the target. The first three pairs all scored over twenty, with Hayden and Thomas scoring a commendable total of 41 between them. In the final pairing, William and Angus remained composed to seal the victory by 27 runs.
It was a competitive match in which all of the boys made important contributions.
