U11 A and B Rugby beat Fettes

Some super rugby on show!

U11 Rugby v Fettes

A’s Won 9-0

B’s Won 6-2

A’s v B’s Drew 4-4

On a blustery yet dry afternoon, the U11 boys played some strong rugby against Fettes. Despite the wind, we passed the ball well and after the match the referee complemented the boys on “brilliant interplay”, which is testament to all the passing practice we have been doing in games each day. Our speed in attack was better and we broke through a number of tackles to score many tries. There were some super team tries with the ball travelling wide to one wing before being recycled and passed back to score in the other corner, which is a high level for this age children and so early in the season. In defence, we kept shape relatively well and made most of our first-time tackles.

Everybody played well and contributed to the team’s success but a few mentions to some moments that stood out to me. Bertie diving to score a brace of tries following some terrific strong running. Tommy, who put in a monster tackle on an intimidating, fast-travelling Wilf. Johnny, who rediscovered his tackling confidence from last season. Hamish who held the ball so well in two hands and ‘fixed’ the defenders to release players into gaps. David and Jamie who were first to support a line break and win the next ruck. Monty K’s pure pace down the wing. Monty S tackling every attacker that came down his wing.

Overall, both teams played very well and it was great to see the boys playing with so much enjoyment and energy.
