The P3 children were full of excitement. The weather was incredible on Saturday with the sun shining brightly. The children started off putting the tents up on the Headmaster’s Lawn, working as a team to put the poles in the correct place and put the pegs in the ground carefully. They worked brilliantly as a team and deserved a break afterwards. After lunch, it was then time for some orienteering around the school. The children worked in pairs to visit various places around the school, using a stamper on their card to prove they had been there. They worked up quite an appetite for cake as it was Lucy’s 8th birthday. We all sang happy birthday and enjoyed some delicious chocolate cake.
In the afternoon, the fun and games continued with some team development games. The children split up into 4 groups and carried out various problem solving based tasks. Firewood was the collected for the evening camp fire to roast marshmallows on.
The sun continued to shine as burgers and hot dogs were eaten. The children sat round the camp fire to sing some songs and they settled into their tents for some sleep.
There was some rain overnight but the sun broke through the next day. A hearty breakfast was eaten, followed by a morning of taking down tents and packing. The children made their own packed lunches to have as a picnic on the fields at school. We walked down to Cramond and played in the glorious sunshine, building sandcastles and burying one another in sand.
As soon as the children returned to school, it was time to go home. All the children went home with a very tired smile of their face, as well as Mrs Parker and Mrs Webber! Well done P3!
