U9 Hockey v Craigclowan Triangular Tournament

Clara, in particular, was delighted to welcome Craigclowan to play hockey today and she did a super job of captaining the team, and acting as host, with Sophie assisting ably. We played well in both matches, winning one and drawing the second. They were the most exciting games!

In the first match Clara was determined to score a goal but despite some very good possession, and many shots on goal, the accuracy was not there. The ball was often struck too hard and the passes went out. We are getting much better at blocking the hit outs however, which is very encouraging. It often gives us another shooting opportunity. Craigclowan’s defence was terrific and in the first half we could not get past them. Isla and Zanna also worked very well in midfield and often provided good passes. In the second half we raised our game, and Zanna and Arabella scored. A late swop of Zanna and Kirsty almost resulted in a third goal but unfortunately Kirsty’s shot was wide of the mark. Win 2:0

In the second game we played the rest of our squad of ten girls and Kirsty and Isla stayed on. Kirsty drifted back to defend and she helped Sophie and Annie clear several balls. It was a tough half and we conceded two goals despite super effort from the girls. Lottie had the bit between her teeth and drove forward well. We swopped some girls around and moved Zanna and Arabella into the team again, to play in the final half. It paid off as they both scored, in what was a super close half. We did seem to be on top however and it is shame we were unable to score again. The match resulted in a 2 all draw. I was delighted in the effort from all of the girls. Very well done!
