George Watson’s (GW) arrived this afternoon to compete against the mighty Cargi 2^nd team. The weather was perfect, the warm up slick and the boys looked focused.

Tristan (C) led the team out into our first game of the day. We took a little while to warm up and then took the game the GW. The game ebbed and flowed with Tristan at the heart of our attacks. We varied our tactics by soaking up the pressure, Matthew and William making tackle after tackle before a quick transition into midfield with the likes of Wilfred, Maxi and Senuka making greats runs down the wings. Alex Lyell was always on hand in the D and waiting for the opportunity. The boys tried and tried again to unpick the GW defence but they held out. As the game drifted into the later stages they caught us on the break to score and win the match 0-1.

We gathered ourselves together re-focused and were determined to win the 2^nd match. We had a strong bench and rotated the team well bringing on Sasha and Leo who added real strength in our defence. Wilfred was outstanding on the left wing dove tailing beautifully with Tristin and Alex. Maxi and Senuka were equally as good on the opposite flank and Matthew a rock in our defence, defending high up the pitch and stopping GW’s counterattacks. GW struggled to contain us and as half time approached we were 3-0 in the lead. During half time we spoke about concentration and maintaining our energy.

We did not anticipated GW’s response in the 2^nd half!!! They pressurised us all over the pitch, passed accurately, created good chances and as much as we defended well, GW eventually scored. This was an end to end battle, we countered, they countered, their goal keeper made great saves and we wasted a few chances. Unfortunately, GW we more ruthless in front of goal levelling the game 3-3 with about 2 minutes to go.

We battled on with the boys giving everything but GW ran out eventual winners 3-5. It was a great match and well played GW.
